The 2023 main stage featured some amazing talented performers and guest speakers showcased throughout the festival!

From singers to animators, traditional performers, DJs, dancer, and v-tubers, all were very entertaining.

Our cosplay judges also offered a Q&A session in the workshop area.

‘Vershion’ is a mix between being any ‘version’ of yourself, and the JP word ‘shion’ meaning beautiful lady! You can pronounce it as ‘ver-shion’ or just as ‘version’.

Since 2013 Steamkittens has been one of the biggest names in Australian cosplay photography. 

“Steamkittens manages to capture us in a way that makes us look how we dream we are meant to look, with all of the drama and spectacle and attention to detail that we source our inspiration from in the first place.” – Indefinitely India Cosplay

From modest beginnings photographing animals at a rescue shelter (which is where the name comes from) Steamkittens is now a popular attraction at cons drawing large queues at events such as PAX and Supanova.

Stephanie Angela

Stephanie is an international student that loves Japanese culture and singing. She has sung in multiple events such as the OzAsia, Adelaide Convention Center functions, University of Adelaide Faculty of Arts Open Mic Night, Anime GO! and the Kodomo no Hi Japan Festival. She was a grand finalist of The University of Adelaide Got Talent Show. Stephanie will sing  雪の華(Yuki no Hana) ost Snow Flower as seen on Netflix by Mika Nakashima.

K-OTIC Crew

K-OTIC Dance Crew are a 7 member Adelaide based group covering various K-Pop artists and spreading the Hallyu sensation!

35Low

5:30pm DJ Performance

35Low is an upcoming Anime X EDM DJ and Electronic Music Producer based in Melbourne, Australia. Setting his sights on the Australian Anime EDM scene, Low aims to bring the Bass House and Hard Dance sound to a variety of stages across the country. He is an executive member and workshop assistant of the RMIT DJ Club and is the Co-Owner of the event organization AniCrossover that is looking to host modern Anime Raves in the near future. He is also known for producing various projects for national and international amateur music acts.

Get down as 35Low brings the festival home with a DJ set following the Cosplay Parade and dance performance.

Stuart Blair

4:10pm Pop Culture Presentation

Pop culture historian and language specialist Stuart Blair will present a comparative analysis of Japanese animation and Manga and other comic book literature from other regions of the world.

Suited for all age demographics, the presentation will be followed by an interactive workshop permitting the audience to create their own Manga character. 

The use of language in context, image stereotypes, and representations is discussed followed by a workshop on character design and illustration.

Noriko Tadano

12:20pm Shamisen Performance

A welcome regular at AnimeGO, Noriko Tadano (只野 徳子) is a Japanese shamisen performer, composer and vocalist. Tadano is both a solo artist and collaborator, and is known for crossover performances combining traditional and modern music.

Tadano has performed with renowned contemporary musicians as well as traditional Japanese artists. She also composes music for film and theatre productions.

Michael Cusack

2:00pm Ultraman Presentation

Michael Cusack has spent the last four decades making high end animated TV commercials, feature film special effects and multi award winning short films.

In collaboration with his Producer, Richard Chataway, he was responsible for setting up the animation department at the South Australian Film Corporation.

He has received numerous other awards and nominations over his long career.

The Better Angels is his latest film.

WonderlandsxMenace

1:30pm Dance Performance

WonderlandsxMenace is a lively dance group, spreading the love of the popular Japanese genre of vocaloid. This
4-member dance group will be performing songs by the group WonderlandsxShowtime as Hatsune Miku, Rui Kamishiro, Tsukasa Tenma, and Nene Kusanagi from the Japanese rhythm game Project Sekai: Colourful stage.

Shoko Yoneyama

2:25pm Anime Industry Presentation

From Osamu Tezuka, creator of Astroboy, Shoko Yoneyama will present as an Australian premiere an English translation of “Lolo’s Travels.”
